From One Big Sheet to Linked Tables

The one idea that makes Ambisius click: one table for each thing you track.

Most business spreadsheets mix everything in one sheet: the customer's name, their phone, what they bought and the price. That's why the same customer appears with three spellings.

Think in things, not tabs

Ask what your business keeps track of: customers, products, sales, staff. Each one becomes its own table. A sale then links to a customer instead of retyping their name.

  1. List the things you track. Each becomes a table.
  2. Give each table its own details: a customer has a phone, a product has a price.
  3. Link tables where one thing belongs to another: a sale belongs to a customer.
